The functionality for the mining industry supplied in the form of the MINERALS AUTOMATION STANDARD is integrated into the system structure of SIMATIC PCS 7 during the installation, and can be classified as follows:

• Engineering components with function block libraries specifically tailored to the mining industry
• Automation components for open-loop/closed-loop control with communications components for the controller connection
• Scalable Production Control (SPC) for recipe-based control strategies
• HMI components with:
  • Redundancy and archiving functions
  • Library for all control system objects with information, diagnostic, and multimedia dialogs
  • Message system with industry-specific service functions
  • Diagnostic system for fast recognition of faults and reduction of downtimes
  • Additional functions such as signal tracking and signal status information
  • APL-style design
• Web-compatible visualization of process displays and faceplates
• Management information: listing and statistics functions as well as long-term archiving
• Maintenance functions:
  • Definition of maintenance intervals for analog and binary modules

Scalable Production Control (SPC)

SPC modules can be used in the automation system to save, import, export parameters for recipe-based control strategies and to switch them when needed ("new type"). The various characteristics of the parameters are mapped with different SPC block types. These block types can be freely interconnected depending on the scale and requirements. The SPC Material Manager enables flexible assignment of material to storage locations. A central SPC Manager block serves as an interface for the plant operator.

Note on the upgrade

Existing installations based on CEMAT V8.0/V8.1 can be upgraded to CEMAT V8.2 using the CEMAT Upgrade Package V8.2. Since the upgrade also includes a WinCC user archive upgrade, one CEMAT Upgrade Package is required for each engineering station, OS server and OS single station.
