Extension Units for 16:9 PRO devices

The Extension Unit is mounted with a 16:9 display below a SIMATIC PRO device of the type "prepared for extension components". It is supplied without operator controls; the possible installation slots are prepared for fitting operator controls. Every Extension Unit can also be combined with every display size of the unit.

In an Extension Unit Hardwired as many as 8 standard operator controls and two emergency stop pushbuttons can be installed and connected. If further operator controls are required, a second Extension Unit can be mounted below the PRO device.

The operator controls in the hardwired version of the Extension Unit are wired by means of two field terminals which can be plugged in or withdrawn quickly and easily. This enables them to be easily connected to the automation system.

The approved operator controls for the Extension Units offer the opportunity to put together a tailor-made system solution conveniently and easily using standard components. The type, number and layout of the operator controls in the Extension Units can be individually defined according to customer wishes. Furthermore, thanks to the properties of the Extension Units, these elements can be converted or replaced (even at a later date).

The operator controls are made of high quality plastic with IP65 degree of protection, ideally suited for demanding industrial applications. They also feature a modern and compact design.

An operator control is supplied in a kit that contains the following parts:

• Operator control with threaded ring
• Electronic connection module
• Necessary fasteners

The illuminated pushbuttons and indicator lights enable certain commands to be differentiated by color due to the different lens assemblies.

If the concepts are changed during the life cycle of the plant, the color of the operator controls can simply by changed at any time by replacing the lens assemblies.

Extension Units for 4:3 PRO devices

The Extension Unit is mounted on the left and/or right side of the PRO device, as required. The cable is routed through the "connecting tube", which connects the extension unit to the basic adapter and thus to the support arm. The new SIMATIC Key Panel facilitates the integration of keys and indicator lights in the extension unit considerably. The operator controls must now no longer be individually wired. Instead, control is performed directly via PROFINET. Each extension unit can accommodate up to two KP8 PN.
